Ahoy there all ye pirates!
Whitby Pirate Day 2012!
Saturday 15th September
This year Whitby Pirate Day is getting bigger! We plan to have 2 sites in Whitby, providing entertainment, actvities, live music, boat trips, crafts, games, appearances from some well known characters, treasure hunt and more to be confirmed.
We always carry on the festivities into the early hours for the more 'weathered' pirates and this year will be no exception... We have something special planned...Expect more on that soon!
Sunday will see a 'Pirate Themed Sand Castle Building Competition' and a 'Pirates Picnic', a nice relaxing day to enjoy the beach and get creative!
Whitby Pirate Day 2011 raised £724.10
We would like to thank everyone who came to Whitby and showed their support.
Photo's from the day can be seen on our Facebook page (see link at bottom of page).
A couple of early showers made us a little nervous, however the sun came out and the day proved to be a success. We had fun meeting a lot of new people and were also glad to see a lot of familiar faces return! With more pirates than ever before we raised more money than in previous years. This is all thanks to everyone who has taken part, and once again I would like to give a few special mentions:
The Whitby International Pirate Society (W.h.I.P.S.): Once again the W.h.I.P.S turned out in force, proving themselves an invaluable part of Whitby Pirate Day
Angie and John Taylor from North East Music Live: They spent months organising to get a great line-up, as usual we were not disappointed. Definitely the most enthusiastic promoters you'll find, we are extremely lucky to have them!
The bands who kept us entertained: The music was brilliant and it was great to see all of you in costume and putting a pirate twist on your performance! A lot of people I spoke to asked me to pass my compliments to you all.
Our friends and family who help every year: We really couldn't have even started this without your support and every year you come back for more (bad necklace tan-lines, Captain Dragon-Bomb)!
The staff at the Whitby Lifeboat Museum and the Whitby Lifeboats: The staff there have been very supportive of Whitby Pirate Day and it was a pleasure getting to know you all better this year. They also asked me to pass on their thanks for all the effort everyone put into the day and making it such a success.
Run solely by volunteers, Whitby Pirate Day is a not for profit event which raises money for the RNLI. If you think you can help or would like to get involved in any way see our 'Contact Us' page for details about how to get in touch.
